How Would You Like To Hire A Building Inspector To Oversee Your next Attached or Detached Garage, Room Addition, Porch, Replacement Window, Siding or Roofing Project?

Western Garage Builders Welcomes Michael Rosenau

Now you can. Western Construction, Inc Would Like To Welcome Michael Rosenau To the Western Construction Team

After months of reviewing hundreds of resumes (some of them were our competitors) I was fortunate to read Michaels resume.

What caught my eye was his last employer, Mnspect. Mnspect is in the inspection services business. Small communities that cant afford their own building department and building inspectors will subcontract that work out to Mnspect. Mnspect has inspected many of Westerns Garages, Room Additions, Replacement Windows and Siding jobs in the past.

Michaels Job Description at Mnspect

Plan Examiner

Michael would review building plans to make sure everything meets the standards of the State of Minnesota Building Code.

Building Inspector

Michael would perform field field inspections to verify that the projects are built to the approved plans as well as the standards of the State of Minnesota Building Code.

One of the things I liked most about Michael as a building inspector was his approach to achieve code compliance with MN Home Owners and MN Building Contractors. Michael felt strongly that education was the key. This takes place at the job-site, in pre-construction meetings, and through local involvement in teaching community education classes.

Garage Builders, Replacement Window Contractors and MN Home Remodelors.

Michael was very familiar with Western Garage Builders before applying for sales position. In fact Michael is familiar with al every Twin Cities Garage Builder. After years of inspecting various types of projects Michael came to appreciate the quality of Westerns Garage's, Room Additions, Replacement Windows and other exterior projects.

Michaels Other Qualifications

Not only was Michael the owner of his own residential framing company he was also the lead carpenter and crew supervisor for over 15 years.

Michaels Job Description At Western Construction, Inc.

Yes We Do Replacement Windows

Yes We Do Windows

If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say “I didn’t know you did replacement windows” I’d be a rich man.

Last week I was giving a free garage estimate to a home owner in NE Minneapolis. It was a older home probably built in the late 1800’s.

We were sitting at their kitchen table when I noticed their old wood windows were in pretty bad shape. It was the cold that caught my attention but it was the paint chips in the sill that gave me cause for concern.

I just finished my Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) certification class so I have a new level of understanding as to the dangers of lead poising in older homes, especially with children up to 6 years of age.

I asked my customer’s if they had any young children. They said they had 2, ages 2 and 4 with one more on the way.

Well,

I immediately stopped talking about his detached garage and asked their permission to discuss the dangers of lead paint and lead dust to small children. Of course they were interested, who wouldn’t want to protect their children.

Some facts about lead

According to the EPA lead poisoning can affect your children’s brains and developing nervous systems, causing reduced IQ’s, learning disabilities and behavioral problems.

Lead dust is the most common way people are exposed to lead but you can get it into your body from the soil or paint chips.

Lead was used in more than 38 million homes prior to 1978 when it was banned.

After explaining the dangers that lead poising possessed in their home, they wanted to fix the problem as soon as possible. It was a large home so they were more than a little concerned about the overall cost. I assured them we had windows to fit every budget, in fact right now we have great financing programs that are easy to qualify for and we even have rebate programs for replacement windows that are part of the Federal Stimulus Program.

I explained to them about the below market financing with the Minnesota Fix-Up Fund, a 35% rebate up to $10,000.00 for qualifying replacement window projects and an additional $1,500.00 in tax credits for their new replacement windows.

Let’s do some math.

On a $10,000 window replacement project you can get $3,500 in Energy Saver Rebate dollars, interest rates below 6% at 5.99% on a 20 year amortized loan and a $1,500 tax credit which is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.   If that isn’t enough reason to purchase new energy efficient windows’ how about saving’s up to 40 % on your fuel bill every year.

I guess this is what you call a no brainer (no pun intended).

Obviously they went ahead and scheduled their new vinyl replacement windows to be installed as soon as possible because the Energy Saver Rebate program is a first come first served program.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the dangers of lead and your home please fill out my contact form and in the message box type Free Lead Test and I’ll have one of our lead experts come out to your home for a free lead analysis.

The Patriot Guard Riders Need Our Help

Mr. Chazin (Boss),

After reading you latest blog I knew if I asked you to help out with the Patriot Guard Riders you would.

But first a little background;

After seeing a news story on TV about the family of a service man in Minneapolis who was killed in action, I had to do some research on what I saw.

The reason for the research was that during the news story I saw dozens of bikers flanking both sides of the street and surrounding the grieving family while holding our nations flag. I had to find out more about this group.

After a short search on the internet I found their website and after reading the Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement, I immediately joined.

Honor, Dignity and Respect is our motto. Since joining the Patriot Guard I have had the honor to “Stand the flag line” for the heroes of WW II, Korea, Viet Nam, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Shield, Operation Enduring Freedom and Afghanistan as well as veterans who served in times of peace. We have also attended send off and welcome home missions, helped a military family move into a new home, help repair a service members home that was in need of repair, visited VA hospitals and raise money for military members and their families.

During missions I have stood next to a 7 year old girl and a 70 year old veteran, a superintendent of a local school district, the recently unemployed, disabled veterans and family members of a service member. I have shared the flag line with some of the same people many times and with new faces on many occasions. I don’t always know much about these people, what they do or their political views, but I do know we all share a common bond, our eternal respect for their sacrifices to keep this country safe. That is what is important to the Patriot Guard Riders and to me.

My father served at Guadalcanal in WW II, and I spent 4 years in the United States Army. I do happen to ride a motorcycle and I have all the black leather gear, so I guess I am a biker. But more importantly I have the utmost respect for my brothers and sisters in uniform. I am always proud to carry my nation’s flag and to show my support for these brave men and women.

I have used the same flag for every mission and Old Glory shows some wear and tear, just like me. I am not quite ready to retire her to a place of honor; we have one more big mission at the end of July to attend together. Please take a moment to review the attached e-mail below to see how everyone can help.

Please Help

The planning committee has put in countless hours to truly make this “A Weekend to Remember!” and we can’t wait to meet you all.

The Healing Field of Honor is one of the many ways we will “remember” during this event. As most of you are aware, the Healing Field has a goal of one flag for every service man or woman that lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sadly, that number is approaching 5,000. This many flags, in the shape of the USA, on a 5 acre grass field, along side an 80% scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall will be an amazing and historic site to see. This will truly be a first!

Unfortunately, the economy has had a huge impact on our sponsorships of the flags. Corporate sponsors are almost non existent and individual sponsorships are in the hundreds rather than thousands. The numbers are now beginning to climb rapidly due to local news stories (Click to watch) and increased understanding of the event. But we still have a long way to go.

Please consider donating and/or getting the word out as much as possible. Forwarding this email to everyone in your address book or talking with organizations (VFW, ALR, VVA, POW/MIA, etc) you belong to, or companies you work for or do business with. They need both corporate and individual sponsorships.

Go to www.colonialflagfoundation.org/staticpages/index.php/remember to buy a flag or contact me for other sponsorship options.

Proceeds go to PGR’s Help On The Homefront (HOTH) program.

Thank you for your help.
