Home Improvement Window Rip Offs

Do you really believe you can buy a good Home Improvement Window for $169, $179 or even $189.99?
I think not. Sure there are windows made for less than $200.00 but I wouldn't put one of those windows in my fish house.
Unfortunately too many people believe they can purchase a $175 window for their Home Improvement, and thats why this bait and switch selling formula all too often works.
The business model works something like this.
You see a window ad for a $175 and the promise of money saving energy efficiency. You say to your self "that sounds like a pretty good window deal". You call the company in the window ad and have them come out for a Free No Obligation Window Quote. The salesman comes out and gives you a window presentation but the window now cost $1,200 or more. You ask "wheres the 185 window?" The window salesman explains, based on your home's needs and your answers to his questions he feels this is a better fit and starts his high pressure one call close.
Look For A No Sales Pressure Agreement
Why It’s Important: Many unethical contractors will resort to high-pressure sales tactics to get you to buy
Windows before you’ve had an opportunity to do proper due diligence on them. If you know nothing about the contractor prior to the sales
call (from literature, references, on line information), and they give you a low-ball price “but only if you buy right this minute,” you should be wary. Any time you feel uncomfortable or unduly pressured in a sales environment, you should ask
the contractor to “back off.” Reputable companies like
Western Construction, Inc. will have a no-tricks, no-pressure sales pledge signed by the owner, sales manager, and each sales associate.
