How Much Does Fiber Cement Siding Cost
I received a email from a prospective customer wanting to know how much vinyl siding or fiber cement siding would cost for a home she was looking to buy.
The only other information she gave me was the home was in St Paul and it was 2500 square feet. She didn’t want anyone to come out and give her an exact price because she might not put a offer on the home and didn’t want to waste anyone’s time. I really appreciated that!
I emailed her back stating that with the amount of information she gave me it would be irresponsible of me to quote even a ball park cost. There’s a lot of information needed to even get a ball park price.
Fiber Cement Siding Cost
I was able to steer her to a web site hosted by Remodeling Magazine which publishes a cost vs value report every year.
In the report she could get the average price of a vinyl siding or James Hardie siding job for her location. The report ranges from a mid range cost to a upscale cost.
The price was to replace 1,250 square feet of existing siding with new fiber-cement siding, factory primed and factory painted. Include all 4/4 and 5/4 trim using either fiber-cement boards or cellular PVC. The Cost vs Value report gives and average range for a job like this. I explained to her that siding jobs are measured by wall square feet no floor square feet.
She checked out the web site and was very thankful I gave her the information. She told me she talked with 4 other siding contractors and no one would give her the time of day because she didn’t own the home yet.
After several months I received another email asking if Western Construction, Inc. would be interested in giving her a price on fiber cement siding. I was more than happy to oblige. When I pulled up to her home I noticed the sold sign in her front yard. It put a smile on my face and reminded me that all enquiries no matter how small should be handled with respect and courtesy.
FYI, we start work in February!
